THE FRIDAY OF PATIENCE AND PASSION
"You can't have Easter without Good Friday", is an old saying...
Named and observed as one of the holiest of days by the Church, and "Good" despite what took place to the contrary, the muffled bells of mourning coming alive again with cheer and joy on Easter Sunday...
With so much of unrest around the world including an ongoing war, the message of Good Friday should be echoing in our ears loud and clear. Of mercy, tolerance and compassion, the Passion of the Lord. It is said that out of His infinite mercy, the Lord had decided to take our sins and our sufferings upon Himself...
The moment we think ill of, confront or fight with another person, or with every violence, no matter how smartly we try to defend and justify them, we are crucifying the spirit of Christ, hammering in another nail to keep Him on that cross. We recall the suffering that He endured on the cross with passion and patience, He cheerfully enduring the predicament rather than imposing it on others...
Likewise it would do a world of good to us to realize that whenever we practice patience, in a way we are embracing the principle of the Passion, each one of us bearing a little of the burden. As we continue doing so, we would find it easier to take on larger responsibilities, very much in accordance with the spirit of this Holy Day...
