WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY


Since 1974, more than 140 nations now under the aegis of the UN observe 5th of June as World Environment Day...

Environment includes all it's constituents – air, water, land, flora and fauna. It is Sweden's turn as the host country for 2022 to restore harmony with nature, the theme being "Only One Earth."...

The main concerns of global warming and climate change affect every living being and nation on this planet...

We citizens of the world should realize that while we cannot live without Mother Earth, she very well can without us; hence it is our responsibility to keep it pollution free, be it air, water, land etc. In addition, household and industrial wastes, noise pollution, ozone layer depletion, medical and radioactive wastes are important issues that warrant our serious consideration...

Global warming has been responsible for climatic irregularities, variability in illnesses and resulting public health issues, loss of biodiversity including endangered species and marine lives...

The continued search for inhabitation for the ever growing population has led to deforestation thereby reducing the timberland covers necessary for environment and temperatures control...

Genetic modification of foods could have a toxic potential to living beings by virtue of hypersensitivity and plant species alterations...

Environmental degradation and planet exploitation have resulted in natural disasters like flash floods, earthquakes, tsunamis and cyclones, causing untold misery...

Though in this context hostilities in certain parts of the world are deplorable, it is high time that mankind recognizes all of the above mentioned signals as eye openers and take corrective measures before it is too late...

WORLD BRAIN DAY

22nd of July is observed as World Brain Day since 2014. The day was chosen during the 21st World Congress of Neurology held in Vienna on September 22, 2013 under the aegis of World Federation of Neurology, which incidentally was also formed on 22 July, in 1957... The day aims to educate people regarding brain health, to help people afflicted with neurological disorders, and to the furtherance of research and advances in therapies and prevention... INTERNATIONAL DAY OF RADIOLOGY

November 8th is observed as International Day Of Radiology as a tribute to the great German scientist Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen for his discovery of X-Rays in 1895.. The 1845 born Nobel Laureate of 1901, Röntgen majored in Physics and completed his PhD at the University of Zurich.. Discovering X-rays accidentally while using cathode rays for images of his wife’s hand, which depicted the bones and the wedding ring, Röntgen had made a giant leap for mankind in medical diagnosis.. International Day of Radiology (IDoR) was first celebrated in the year 2012 with the combined efforts of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the American College of Radiology (ACR)..
