INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
The day stands for the recognition of the indomitable spirit of women, their hard work and dedication, combined with virtues of love, compassion and perseverance, helping them excel in their areas of interest...
While the day began in Europe in 1911, it was not until 1975 that the UN took note of their issues of access to education, employment, equality, franchise and discrimination seriously...
The theme for 2023 is -
“DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.”...
That being said, research has revealed a rather disturbing and rising trend, since 2015, of women in senior positions opting out, which could possibly with time spill over to the subordinate ranks as well...
The world recently witnessed several women from the upper echelons of power deciding to call it a day. It commenced right from Magdalena Andersson in November 2021, Angela Merkel the following month, then Liz Truss, Sanna Marin, Jacinda Ardern, and now with Nicola Sturgeon’s resignation there appears a likelihood of fewer women aspiring for positions of power in the future...
Ambitious, but overworked and under-appreciated, women aspire for a different work culture which they feel confident of handling. Women have been seen to prioritize career advancement, flexibility, employee well-being as well as diversity, equity and inclusion over everything else...
With micro-hurdles still abounding in their ascent of the corporate ladder vis a vis their abilities and performances, working women are among the most stressed employees globally, with responsibilities at home and at work which could lead to burnout and exhaustion at higher rates than men...
Nevertheless, proving their mettle during testing times with a natural smile bears testimony to a woman's joy and happiness that comes with responsibilities...
I believe that women enhance the beauty of our world, by their mere presence, enacting their various roles of daughter, sister, soulmate, wife, mother, friend, counselor etc., to perfection...
While it is time to do away with the "men are more equal" concept, I would also like to add that woman wasn't created by nature just to do all the man's work, but also for everything that he cannot... 🙂🙂
Happy International Women's Day to all !
🙏🙏💐💐
