A NOBEL "NOMINEE"

Does he even deserve a mention? The thought that literally came to mind as I typed this. But history stands tall...

Records say that Adolf Hitler was actually nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1939. What do Einstein, Mother Teresa, Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr. and Mandela all have in common? They all make up the top 5 heroes in world history. As regards the villains, Adolf Hitler, Napoleon, Stalin, Mao Tse Tung and Osama bin Laden could perhaps make the top 5...

Does a war really throw up a hero or a villain? All enter in combat mode, but despite all claims, probably none walks out a winner. Every side loses soldiers, people, property, and invariably goodwill as well...

Coming back to the Nobel Peace Prize, Swedish MP Erik Brandt proposed Hitler’s name 3 days after 12 fellow MPs nominated the British PM Chamberlain, on 24 January 1939, for the Munich Agreement of Sudetenland handover which "saved the world from a terrible catastrophe.”...

Unsurprisingly as Brandt drew enormous flak, he had a lot to explain. To him West's backstabbing of the 'handing over' qualified neither of the two for the Prize, and that his proposal should be taken as ironical -
”by the use of irony suggest a Peace Prize to Hitler and by that nail him to the wall of shame as enemy number one of peace in the world."...

Several writers regard Hitler as the most worshipped and hated man in world history. This contradiction is probably because inspiration is independent of righteousness or otherwise...

The Austrian born ruler of Germany from 1934 to 1945, Hitler rated himself as a God-sent messiah of his nation, of a superior race, destined to conquer and rule the whole world, without any qualms of exterminating lives of those he considered inferior, handicapped, old and weak including his countrymen, claiming to want a nation of only fit people...

Powers unbeknownst put paid to Hitler’s dreams as the Allied forces crushed his military machine as the "colossus" committed suicide in his bunker, this day, 1945, along with his one-day old girlfriend turned wife Eva Braun...

THE END...
