One can't help admire Foster's handling of the theme of a marine creature born to live fast and depart early. The depiction of true love which does really exist, which is unstoppable and mighty if one decides to put mind and soul into it, no matter how tiny one is, the key being to keep floating trustfully in the huge waters of the oceans...
I strongly recommend watching the documentary to those who haven't as yet...
