Toiling hard for numerous associations, she made righteous use of her position and popularity to create awareness on several humanitarian issues. Even after 26 years since her tragic passing away, this day in 1997 in Paris, that shocked the entire world, the late Princess of Wales continues to be adored and revered by all...

From a graceful teenager marrying a twelve years older future King, Princess Diana relentlessly stood for causes related to Leprosy, HIV/AIDS, and Landmines, actively working with over 100 groups across various fields...

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that her one act of gloveless handshake with an AIDS patient sent a perception-changing message to the world, just as her act of stepping onto a landmine in Angola and sitting with a child amputee resonated her voice for a ban on the menace...

The world was fortunate to have seen the trio of Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa and Diana at work in their respective fields. While Mandela announced an initiative on AIDS in South Africa in Diana's memory, in 2002, Mother Teresa who passed away within few days of Diana's demise dedicatedly served the causes supported by the latter...

Despite the stark contrast of their circumstances and lives, one an ex-royal and the other a saint, both ladies became global icons, remembered and admired till date for their yeoman service to society...

The day was chosen during the 21st World Congress of Neurology held in Vienna on September 22, 2013 under the aegis of World Federation of Neurology, which incidentally was also formed on 22 July, in 1957... INTERNATIONAL DAY OF RADIOLOGY

November 8th is observed as International Day Of Radiology as a tribute to the great German scientist Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen for his discovery of X-Rays in 1895.. The 1845 born Nobel Laureate of 1901, Röntgen majored in Physics and completed his PhD at the University of Zurich.. Discovering X-rays accidentally while using cathode rays for images of his wife’s hand, which depicted the bones and the wedding ring, Röntgen had made a giant leap for mankind in medical diagnosis.. International Day of Radiology (IDoR) was first celebrated in the year 2012 with the combined efforts of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the American College of Radiology (ACR)..
