NATIONAL DAY OF ENCOURAGEMENT
Coming as it does close on the heels of 9/11, to which it is intimately related, the National Day Of Encouragement is dedicated to spur on those around us, to make someone happy with words of encouragement...
The brainchild of Encouragement Project set up in Searcy, Arkansas, by a group of youths in 2007 found favour with the Mayor of Searcy, the Arkansas Governor, and finally President George W Bush, resulting in the ratification of the Day to honor the victims and those who continue to be affected by the senseless 9/11 carnage...
Of great significance for the US, National Day of Encouragement could very well be observed the world over. Let us never miss an opportunity to compliment a deserved one. Each one of us I am sure have, at some time or the other, been the beneficiary of some praise or compliment, be it from a relative, friend, colleague, acquaintance, stranger etc...
A personal, specific and genuine praise could make a vast difference to the recipient. Let us strive to change from just bland compliments to those containing encouragement. With just a bit of extra effort to turn a vague comment into one of praise to make someone’s day. Addressing them by name and conveying their worth. Making the compliment as specific as possible, and mentioning the reason for the appreciation, not forgetting to wait for the receiver to react and reply...
Also, acts of forgiveness, recognizing true beauty in everyone, doing spontaneous kind deeds, sportsmanship, appreciating a junior etc. are in effect forms of encouragement...
Words are sparks capable of igniting change in lives, to motivate those who might find the going tough, or to encourage those to pick themselves up from the trough. It is something worth practicing, throughout the year, all over the globe...
HAPPY NATIONAL DAY OF ENCOURAGEMENT 💐
