WHEN THE WORLD CHANGED

On it's 22nd anniversary, as 9/11 of 2001 stands as a watershed day for the entire world, has mankind been any better and/or wiser? Needless to say, such events etched in time transgress all boundaries...

While the Iranian Revolution, Russian occupation of Afghanistan, Egypt's Sadat's assassination, coupled with unfavorable domestic socio-politico-economic issues led to Islamic extremism, it's anti-American stance stemmed from U.S. support to Israel and few secular Arab regimes...

9/11 could be termed as West's (mis)calculation, of arming Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda in the 1980s against the Soviets in Afghanistan, going awry when it was least expected...

While it was a documentation of US's vulnerability, it also sent a message that terrorism affects everyone, and one perhaps needs to reconcile to it's permanency...

While air travel has become an integral part of our lives, terrorism is multi-faced too. While we are ostensibly at our best during trying times, we ought to be extra alert and supportive of the entire security system in place to thwart those resorting to fatalistic ideologies...

However, even after two decades, the war against terror seemingly leaves a lot to be desired, with jihadist mobilization and casualties continuing in various pockets around the world...

While there has been no major attack in the US since then, the Taliban and Al Qaeda have returned to pole position in Afghanistan, just as they were on that fateful day...

While retaliatory moves began soon after, of perhaps trying to find a needle in a haystack and resorting to using a cannon ball to eliminate just one living being as it were, the saying goes to never begin a venture if one isn't too sure of negotiating through the endgame...

Prayers once again for all the 9/11 victims.
May the Almighty rest their souls in everlasting peace...
