Germany’s writer and animal activist Heinrich Zimmermann introduced the day, on 24th March 1925, in the Sports Palace of Berlin. It was later changed to 4th October during the 1931 Ecologists conference in Florence in honour of the patron saint of animals, Francis of Assisi, whose feast it is this day...

The theme for the World Animal Welfare Day 2023 is:
“Great or Small, Love Them All,”

While we talk big about the environment, we invariably tend to ignore, and threaten at times, it's inhabitants, the many living species that really aid it...

The flora, fauna and funga, collectively called Biota, form an important part of the ecological system in a particular region or time. All mammals, fishes, birds, reptiles, and other living motile species are categorized as animals. The two-legged humans belong to genus Homo Sapiens...

International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) says that out of around 8.7 million species identified only 1.2 million have been scientifically described; and of these around 41,000 are on the near-extinct list...

The issue of the rate of animal extinction, mainly due to overexploitation and habitat loss, is a serious one capable of irreversible impacts on the environment. As we share this planet with other living beings, it becomes our responsibility to make it a better place for one and all...

Too much of animal testing, cruelty, poaching, hunting, deforestation, industrialization, urbanization, pollution etc. have caused the near extinction of several species...

We should realize the importance of every species to maintain a healthy environment with fresh air, water and land, lest we be responsible for irreparably damaging the  ecosystem...

Just spare a thought for our brethren, who accomplish several tasks ranging from pest control, water conservation, pollination, seed dispersion, patrolling, navigation to scavenging etc. selflessly, oblivious to most of us...

22nd of July is observed as World Brain Day since 2014. The day was chosen during the 21st World Congress of Neurology held in Vienna on September 22, 2013 under the aegis of World Federation of Neurology, which incidentally was also formed on 22 July, in 1957... INTERNATIONAL DAY OF RADIOLOGY

November 8th is observed as International Day Of Radiology as a tribute to the great German scientist Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen for his discovery of X-Rays in 1895.. The 1845 born Nobel Laureate of 1901, Röntgen majored in Physics and completed his PhD at the University of Zurich.. Discovering X-rays accidentally while using cathode rays for images of his wife’s hand, which depicted the bones and the wedding ring, Röntgen had made a giant leap for mankind in medical diagnosis.. International Day of Radiology (IDoR) was first celebrated in the year 2012 with the combined efforts of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the American College of Radiology (ACR)..
