WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY

While even the WHO hasn't set an 'official' definition of mental health, it essentially refers to a person's psychological, emotional, and social well-being which influences feelings, thoughts and behaviour...

The mind, though abstract, is one of the most powerful organs in the body, capable of influencing the working of all other organs as well...

Being a faculty that makes us superior to animals, it is imperative that we keep our mental one fit as a fiddle the way we tend to our physical side...

An unstable mind is a liability. An emotionally fit and stable person would always be able to cope with various situations with optimism. An optimal balance of both physical and mental health is the key to success in all aspects of life...

Relying on the past often, we could get irked when things don't turn out to our expectations. We then probably tend to revisit them repeatedly, to the extent of even vengeance - something of an internal war...

Having said the above, and with the world’s current affairs coming to such a pass as things stand, it becomes difficult to ignore the various stresses that we have had over the past few years, which have affected several of our brethren worldwide...

Conflicts and wars affect mental health of the population without doubt, not to speak of the displacement, loss of lives and property, along with morals and ethics. Poverty and struggle being the recipe for depression, anxiety or even PTSD, it is time to spare a thought for those who are forced to survive in battle-torn regions...

The onus is on leaders and governments to play a role of magnanimity in creating the environment of peaceful coexistence that would perhaps promote mental and emotional well-being in the entire population of the world...

"You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection."
