WORLD SMILE DAY
The news of jailed Iranian activist and deputy director of the Defenders of Human Rights Center, 51-year old Narges Mohammadi winning the Nobel Peace Prize 2023 must have brought smiles to a multitude across the world, to adorn the World Smile Day, today being October’s first Friday...
The day came into being from 1999 due to the efforts of Harvey Ross Ball (10 Jul 1921-12 Apr 2001), a commercial artist from Massachusetts, the designer of the popular smile icon, way back in 1963...
The simplest, yet the most effective, of facial expressions, the smile cuts across all barriers whatsoever to emit warmth, joy, kindness and positivity in the surroundings...
Quite surely, life is pretty much capable of giving us a hundred reasons to cry, but then it is for our fortitude to react, that with love and care adversities can be transformed into learning experiences, and to let life know that we have more than a thousand reasons to smile...
A smile is said to raise one's 'face value.' If not endowed with it, who else but the child, the best person to learn it from. The spirits of happiness, trust, love and care; the ability to be happy without any precise reason; to forget the past and get on with the business of making merry...
Evidently, we all are born with those attributes, but perhaps somewhere down the line few of us seem to lose them to varying degrees whilst negotiating the ups and downs of life...
In accordance with the saying 'smile is contagious', let us all put on our best ones for this year's theme “Radiate Joy” so as to help transform the ripples of smiling peals into waves of joy and happiness to engulf the whole world of ours...
HAPPY WORLD SMILE DAY 🙂🙂
