MID-JANUARY MUSINGS

As the freshness of the new year begins to wane, in the second half of it's opening month, it is time to sit and ponder over issues of import, what with the WEF annual meet underway in Davos and South Africa knocking the doors of ICJ...

The quote sent my mind to the times when an Eurasian president effaced Covid19 for an emergency military strike on a neighbour, about to reach it's second anniversary, to the current focus a little to the south of the abovementioned region that just completed a century of days of existence. Both have contributed immensely, in the words of the WEF president Mr. Børge Brende, to the world’s economic doldrums...

My inner voice reminded me "don't stress..    ..."
But am still waiting for the change; why, a majority of us are, aren't we? While I know those are complex issues and that I better not dwell on them for now, let us try and be content with considering them as aberrations for now...

With yesterday's Makar Sankranti marking winter's end, assuring longer and brighter days, let us focus attention on the many wonders of our world, incredible works of art and architecture, of entertainment, of science and invention - of human excellence...

Human mind thus is pretty much great, it's play bringing about all of world’s activities. With such miraculous powers at it's disposal, what can it not attain if it concentrates on itself for the common good. Let us thus strive to befriend our mind...

At an individual level we probably focus on all the things we did not do or could have done better, and forget the things we did well. Like being punctual at work, timely completion of tasks, being calm under pressure, helping someone in need etc. - they all deserve self-appreciation. This 'feel good factor' gives the necessary impetus to future plans and goals...

While a river does not need to advertise it's waters, people are drawn to it if pure, free flowing and potable. The secret of enthusiasm is remarkably simple - live in a state of appreciation. Count your blessings and cherish what you have...
