WORLD DAY OF SOCIAL JUSTICE


Observed on 20th of February since 2009, World Day Of Social Justice aims to correct social injustices and encourage harmony in all communities within the framework of a socially integrated society...

The theme for 2024 is -
"Bridging Gaps, Building Alliances".
It emphasizes the importance of pan-cooperation in addressing the world's burning problems...

Initially an issue concerning economics, or perhaps religion, passage of time has seen social justice almost becoming synonymous with human rights. As a concept of equality and a perception of fairness in all interactions, anywhere in the world, it strives to ensure that everyone gets reasonable opportunities for a decent living...

Education, healthcare, food and housing; non-discrimination with respect to sex, gender, race, religion and other disabilities; unrestricted political privileges, adherence to human rights and principles of natural justice are few of the issues of import...

As things stand, the gulf between the poor and the wealthy is seemingly widening, not only between countries but even within them, including many of the prosperous...

The very fact that we continue to live in times of senseless conflicts, involving the so-called super powers, implies that social justice still very much remains a pipedream. And achieving it in it's strict sense may not be easy, as stakes could be high for established systems to not oppose change...

While it would take proactive political and philosophical movements for streamlining of resources to the underserved and addressing past injustices, if society decides to earnestly strive progressively, I am certain that the final outcomes with regard to citizens' lives should take a definite turn for the good...

WORLD BRAIN DAY

22nd of July is observed as World Brain Day since 2014. The day was chosen during the 21st World Congress of Neurology held in Vienna on September 22, 2013 under the aegis of World Federation of Neurology, which incidentally was also formed on 22 July, in 1957... The day aims to educate people regarding brain health, to help people afflicted with neurological disorders, and to the furtherance of research and advances in therapies and prevention... INTERNATIONAL DAY OF RADIOLOGY

November 8th is observed as International Day Of Radiology as a tribute to the great German scientist Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen for his discovery of X-Rays in 1895.. The 1845 born Nobel Laureate of 1901, Röntgen majored in Physics and completed his PhD at the University of Zurich.. Discovering X-rays accidentally while using cathode rays for images of his wife’s hand, which depicted the bones and the wedding ring, Röntgen had made a giant leap for mankind in medical diagnosis.. International Day of Radiology (IDoR) was first celebrated in the year 2012 with the combined efforts of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the American College of Radiology (ACR)..
