INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY


While the UN ratified this day in 1975, the pillars of International Women’s Day were erected way back in 1911, by the womens' movement in Europe - Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland - for rights to education, work, voting and equality in general...

While the UN theme for 2024 is "Invest in women: Accelerate progress", the campaign theme for this year is "Inspire Inclusion."...

The day highlights the innate qualities of women, their indomitable spirit, dedication and industriousness combined with love, compassion and perseverance, helping them scale the altitudes in their chosen walks of life...

With the efforts worldwide of doing away with the concept of "men are more equal" gaining ground, the day reminds all those nations where women aren't given a fair deal, to take steps that all citizens get equal rights and opportunities...

With determination and endurance a woman can well be unstoppable in a world of equal opportunities, her especial ability to smilingly adapt to crises and circumstances bringing out the best in her. Their exemplary trait of holding fort when required, or while the chips are down, has mystified men since time immemorial, global history bearing testimony to that effect in ample measure...

Though the past decade has seen a disturbing trend of women in senior positions opting out, there is no denying the fact that women do relish responsibilities, to come out on top of them all with joy and work satisfaction. Blessed with their unique creative force of the universe, women are endowed with tenderness and unmatched healing powers to nurse wounds of body, mind and soul...

It would be apt to say that the beauty of our world is attributable to the presence of women, essaying different roles at various points in time, and managing it all so well, to perfection...

WORLD BRAIN DAY

22nd of July is observed as World Brain Day since 2014. The day was chosen during the 21st World Congress of Neurology held in Vienna on September 22, 2013 under the aegis of World Federation of Neurology, which incidentally was also formed on 22 July, in 1957... The day aims to educate people regarding brain health, to help people afflicted with neurological disorders, and to the furtherance of research and advances in therapies and prevention... INTERNATIONAL DAY OF RADIOLOGY

November 8th is observed as International Day Of Radiology as a tribute to the great German scientist Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen for his discovery of X-Rays in 1895.. The 1845 born Nobel Laureate of 1901, Röntgen majored in Physics and completed his PhD at the University of Zurich.. Discovering X-rays accidentally while using cathode rays for images of his wife’s hand, which depicted the bones and the wedding ring, Röntgen had made a giant leap for mankind in medical diagnosis.. International Day of Radiology (IDoR) was first celebrated in the year 2012 with the combined efforts of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the American College of Radiology (ACR)..
