World Theatre Day is organized by the International Theatre Institute (ITI), an association with around 85 centres globally, since 1961, to highlight the importance of theatre arts in the field of entertainment...

The theme for 2024 is -
"Theatre and a Culture of Peace."

The ITI invites a famous personality every year for a guest message. The first such message was by Jean Cocteau in 1962. This year's guest is Norwegian literature Nobel Laureate of 2023, Jon Olav Fosse...

In accordance with Shakespeare's "All the World’s a Stage", we all are just players with our arrivals and exits. While it can be said that the fascinations of nature led man to innovations, the advent of the "stage" for expression could be as mysterious as to how the roles we perform in this life were assigned to us...

While we are unique and specific actors in the drama of life, being an unbiased observer is the key to growth, material success and happiness; tamper with the script, and you mess up everything...

Just as the various forms of energy aid in working of gadgets but are not responsible for their qualitative performance, the human spirit has to be properly channelised through the body, mind and intellect...

It is said that while the mind is easily affected or hurt and the intellect remaining the 'north star', learning to be an impartial observer is the key to happiness. Just as one would enjoy a movie because one isn't attached to it, the essence is to learn to be at peace and tranquil in the turbulent seas...

I end with an excerpt from the day's Guest-Message -
"Art, good art, manages in its wonderful way to combine the completely unique with the universal. It allows us to understand the different – the foreign, we might say – as universal. In this way, art breaks the boundaries between languages, geographical areas, countries. It gathers together not only the individual qualities of everyone, but also in another sense, the individual characteristics of every group of people, for example every nation."

The day was chosen during the 21st World Congress of Neurology held in Vienna on September 22, 2013 under the aegis of World Federation of Neurology, which incidentally was also formed on 22 July, in 1957... INTERNATIONAL DAY OF RADIOLOGY

November 8th is observed as International Day Of Radiology as a tribute to the great German scientist Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen for his discovery of X-Rays in 1895.. The 1845 born Nobel Laureate of 1901, Röntgen majored in Physics and completed his PhD at the University of Zurich.. Discovering X-rays accidentally while using cathode rays for images of his wife’s hand, which depicted the bones and the wedding ring, Röntgen had made a giant leap for mankind in medical diagnosis.. International Day of Radiology (IDoR) was first celebrated in the year 2012 with the combined efforts of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the American College of Radiology (ACR)..
