WORLD NATURE CONSERVATION DAY
WORLD NATURE CONSERVATION DAY reminds us of the importance of conserving our natural resources and protecting the environment through appropriate actions for future generations...
Though the day's history is rather unclear due to it's connection with various earlier environmental movements, the UN began it in 1972 at Stockholm, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the World Heritage Convention...
The theme for 2024 is -
“Connecting People and Plants, Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation.”
While the early 20th century saw the rise of environmental awareness and conservation movements, the day gained momentum with increasing patronage over the decades, the focus slowly shifting to specific issues like climate change, natural disasters, species endangerment, deforestation, pollution etc...
Nature is God's gift to us, providing enough for our necessities. Air, water, sunlight, rain, shelter, food, the flora and fauna and so on, all helping in our survival and betterment. It is thus our duty to protect and conserve the same to try and avoid any disruption of balance...
To conserve implies using natural resources judiciously by way of eco-friendly methods. Reduce, Recycle, and Reuse can be said to be the basis of such efforts, the onus of which lies upon the self to make the desired change...
By way of various events, seminars and activities, awareness about sustainable practices should be spread throughout communities on promoting conservational efforts to ensure that natural resources are used wisely, with the generations to come kept in mind...
We ought to take good care of our earth, for we have just the one...
