Fight Procrastination Day, on 6th September, encourages people to complete tasks they have been deferring. Something that almost everyone can relate to, habitual postponing of tasks lead to missed chances, inefficiency, increased stress, and dispiritedness...
Taking one's time in decision-making is indeed desirable; one just has to ensure that contemplation doesn't lead to procrastination, especially when one finds hundreds of choices as regards strategies and vision...
Quite often, perhaps reflexly, we overthink of all the ways that something could go wrong, building up a lot of anxiety, and eventually cursing ourselves for wasting precious time...
While those striving hard are believed to possess that "extra" brain metabolism, and deliberators perceived to yield better results, an overthinking predisposition could outweigh the positives at times...
Perfectionism, while perhaps desirable, is said to be the biggest hindrance in being affirmative within a reasonable time frame. The concept of conforming to a single "right" choice or analysing every possible outcome, for fear of failure, become the stumbling blocks...
Reasonably cautious considerations of the possible impact of one's decisions with regard to it's objectives and consequences should be sufficient. Attending to issues step by step in the best possible manner rather than thinking too much into the future should work out in one's favour in the normal course of events...
Making a list of tasks, tackling the smallest one first, setting a time limit, turning off distractions, finding a like-minded associate, rewarding oneself after accomplishments etc., could go a long way in staving off the disconcerting habit...
It is a given that time deserves to be appreciated and respected. However, appreciation and time could have a queer relationship too. For instance, it is quite possible that the one whom you appreciate might not give you his/her time, and the one whom you give time to might not appreciate the gesture...
Life goes on all the same. In passing it is worth remembering that a conscientiously busy person would always find time for everything...😊
