HELLO NINTH MONTH



With it's equinox heralding the beginning of fall in the northern hemisphere and the spring in the southern, September signals the beginning of the end of the year's third quarter...

The only month with the same number of letters in it's name as the number of the month, September is associated with Vulcan, the Roman god of Fire...

What was originally the seventh month of the ancient Roman calendar with 29 days, the addition of January and February in 451 BCE pushed September to the ninth spot...

With Julius Caesar adding a day in 46 BCE we have the month with 30 as it stands now. Also, in 1752 the British Empire changed it's calendar from Julian to Gregorian, skipping 11 days of September between the 2nd and 14th...

For starters, this day in 1939 (1st September) saw Hitler invade Poland, setting the World War II ball rolling; and not in the too distant past, September 11, 2001 changed the shape of the world forever, the aftermaths of which continue to be felt in our neighborhoods...

September is replete with observances such as Labour Day, Rosh Hashanah, Patriot Day, Grandparents Day to name a few. The month also marks a time to finish the year’s harvest and celebrate its bounty in many parts of the world, and for students to begin their new academic year...

Bringing along birthstones of Sapphire and Lapis, and flowers of Aster and Morning Glory, September 2024 incorporates for us the "Teacher's Day" and the Lord Ganesha festival in the first week itself...

WORLD BRAIN DAY

22nd of July is observed as World Brain Day since 2014. The day was chosen during the 21st World Congress of Neurology held in Vienna on September 22, 2013 under the aegis of World Federation of Neurology, which incidentally was also formed on 22 July, in 1957... INTERNATIONAL DAY OF RADIOLOGY

November 8th is observed as International Day Of Radiology as a tribute to the great German scientist Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen for his discovery of X-Rays in 1895.. The 1845 born Nobel Laureate of 1901, Röntgen majored in Physics and completed his PhD at the University of Zurich.. Discovering X-rays accidentally while using cathode rays for images of his wife’s hand, which depicted the bones and the wedding ring, Röntgen had made a giant leap for mankind in medical diagnosis.. International Day of Radiology (IDoR) was first celebrated in the year 2012 with the combined efforts of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the American College of Radiology (ACR)..
