REMEMBERING A PRESIDENT
While I prefer to write on days of remembrance rather than days of birth, I do make an exception here. India's 11th President needing no introduction, the great soul made an impression on the minds of his nation's population perhaps like none, indescribable in words...
The Dassera festival ("the triumph of good over evil") having concluded the last weekend, Dr. Kalam's quote came at the right time for me, this morning. Evil needs to be defeated at all times in real life, and not just relegated to a particular occasion...
Real life encompassing both joys and sorrows, it quite often appears that, considering world as a whole with it's history, the scales don't seem to tilt in favour of the good. Especially on a macro level like institutions, corporations, and governments, though not so much at the micro or individual family level...
With no dearth of people who consider/ed access to resources as their family business and a matter of right, we do come across messiahs, philanthropists and good samaritans once in a while, the basic difference being greed on the one hand and selflessness on the other...
Having said that, one still gets an impression that evil is more powerful, probably because goodness adheres to certain principles of fair play and justice, whereas evil has no such constraints. With technology rendering the world smaller, the human race appears to be gradually finding their voices against injustice to be heard...
To sum it up, goodness helps everyone, and remains the only hope to raise the bars of humanity in order to leave impressive footprints on the sands of time for posterity...
