BEAVER MOON MONTH



Done with Halloween, we thus arrive at the penultimate 'Ber' month of the year, the month of the Beaver Moon, November, which incorporates the Thanksgiving Day with a sense of pride...

With leaves preparing to come off and shadows lengthening, it signals us to decelerate. The non-hibernating but industrious beavers build dwellings cozy enough to tide over the winter, spending more time indoors, procreating and caring for their offsprings...

Likewise, we could afford to slow down to finish things on hand, and to defer new projects for the time being. A good time for introspection, and for planning the impending holiday season well, for both self and family...

Coming to the month itself, November has been studded with events, quite a few of them changing the course of world history, as it were, right from Guy Fawkes's arrest in 1605 to the Indian 'demonetization masterstroke' of 2016...

While 1st Nov 1800 saw the 2nd US President John Adams become the first to occupy the White House, November 26, 1863 saw President Lincoln making official the last Thursday as Thanksgiving Day until President Franklin D. Roosevelt changed it to the fourth...

While Nov 24, 1859 saw the release of Charles Darwin’s “Origin of Species", Nov 8, 1895 was the day when Germany's Wilhelm. C. Rőntgen accidentally discovered X-rays that earned him the first-ever Nobel Prize for physics in 1901...

November is thus a fascinating month, bringing along with it Yellow Topaz and Chrysanthemum as it's birthstone and flower respectively. The Thanksgiving Day confers on it a sanctity like none other, for us to feel grateful and blessed for everything that transpired over the year, in order to look forward to the final month and the new year with renewed hope, enthusiasm and vigour...

WORLD BRAIN DAY

22nd of July is observed as World Brain Day since 2014. The day was chosen during the 21st World Congress of Neurology held in Vienna on September 22, 2013 under the aegis of World Federation of Neurology, which incidentally was also formed on 22 July, in 1957... The day aims to educate people regarding brain health, to help people afflicted with neurological disorders, and to the furtherance of research and advances in therapies and prevention... INTERNATIONAL DAY OF RADIOLOGY

November 8th is observed as International Day Of Radiology as a tribute to the great German scientist Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen for his discovery of X-Rays in 1895.. The 1845 born Nobel Laureate of 1901, Röntgen majored in Physics and completed his PhD at the University of Zurich.. Discovering X-rays accidentally while using cathode rays for images of his wife’s hand, which depicted the bones and the wedding ring, Röntgen had made a giant leap for mankind in medical diagnosis.. International Day of Radiology (IDoR) was first celebrated in the year 2012 with the combined efforts of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the American College of Radiology (ACR)..
