WORLD WILDLIFE DAY 2025



World Wildlife Day came into being in 2014, thanks to Thailand who proposed it in the 16th Session of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) at Bangkok in March 2013, which got ratified by the UN the same December...

The day aims to create awareness of the importance of preserving the inspirationally wonderful wildlife, something so very integral to the ecological balance...

The theme for 2025 is -
"Wildlife Conservation Finance:
Investing in People and Planet."

The normal functioning of the biosphere depends on endless interaction among animals, plants and microorganisms. Wildlife and nature have largely been associated with humans for numerous emotional and social reasons, and being generally non-domesticated are living resources that will die and be replaced by others of their kind...
 
While the need for land due to development of cities has led to the encroachment of the ecological system, the flora and fauna of the wild remain invaluable to the genetic, social, economic, scientific, educational, cultural, recreational and aesthetic aspects of mankind...

In addition to it's beauty, wildlife maintains the ecological balance of nature and the food chain. Wildlife preservation has important roles in livelihoods involving timber, textiles, rubber, ivory, leather, honey, tusk etc., economy and tourism. Certainly, wildlife contributes immensely to our life's requirements, ranging from food and clothing to medicines...

Wildlife conservation includes all efforts to preserve wild species from extinction, protecting and managing them scientifically. It is thus essential that everyone, the government, civil society, NGOs and other social groups should work together in earnest for the survival of both wildlife and mankind...

Protection of the natural habitats still remains the cornerstone of world food security. We ought to act responsibly to speak for the voiceless creations of nature surviving amidst us and contributing selflessly to our economy and culture, thus making our planet such a beautiful place...

22nd of July is observed as World Brain Day since 2014. The day was chosen during the 21st World Congress of Neurology held in Vienna on September 22, 2013 under the aegis of World Federation of Neurology, which incidentally was also formed on 22 July, in 1957... The day aims to educate people regarding brain health, to help people afflicted with neurological disorders, and to the furtherance of research and advances in therapies and prevention... INTERNATIONAL DAY OF RADIOLOGY

November 8th is observed as International Day Of Radiology as a tribute to the great German scientist Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen for his discovery of X-Rays in 1895.. The 1845 born Nobel Laureate of 1901, Röntgen majored in Physics and completed his PhD at the University of Zurich.. Discovering X-rays accidentally while using cathode rays for images of his wife’s hand, which depicted the bones and the wedding ring, Röntgen had made a giant leap for mankind in medical diagnosis.. International Day of Radiology (IDoR) was first celebrated in the year 2012 with the combined efforts of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the American College of Radiology (ACR)..
