Thanks to the pioneering efforts of the Bahrain Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, with the UN adopting it's principles of Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 5th April is being observed as the International Day Of Conscience since 2020...
The theme for 2025 is -
"Leave No One Behind."
There have been several instances of a cab or an auto driver returning forgotten valuables, in cash and kind, back to the ex-passengers. I have also read of a master sculptor redoing a statue halfway when he suddenly realized a very minor flaw in it's face, despite being told that no one would even notice the way he discovered it...
They both denote honesty, meticulousness and conscientiousness. Their "inner voice" prevailed upon them to act as they did, making them meticulously honest in terms of righteousness...
Starting around the age of 2-3 years, the child’s self-talk slowly becomes the inner voice in each one of us, directing our actions to cope with day to day moments of our lives. For me conscience is always a guide of ethics and perfection, a vociferous critic with intentions to create the best versions of ourselves...
While no one is perfect, conscience can be said to be that faculty trying to prevent a person succumbing to temptations, avoiding one's esteem getting lowered in one's own eyes. At the other end of the spectrum are those with no scruples of right and wrong or any remorse at all...
The conscientious acts with a deep sense of responsibility towards all, in a righteous manner even when a fault is certain to go unnoticed. Goes without saying, such persons are eagerly sought after as against those reputed only to be clever...
Practicing the pause and silence make us receptive to our inner voice, the righteous part of ourselves quietly watching and whispering unto us...
As I write this, the world is seemingly into a trade war with a belief that ‘everything boils down to sales.' Though there may be some truth in it, many inner voices might surely have gone for a toss. However, the urge to outsmart has the potential for unpleasantness in the long run...
The necessity of being conscious of one's conscience, especially in current times, could benefit all, lest the ongoing unsavory issues cause complete collapse of earth and mankind...
