WELCOME APRIL 2025



While we all complete our successful 'March' onto 'April', it's 1st is a milestone of sorts for quite a few, being the start of the fresh financial year in several quarters, India being one such in the august company of UK, Canada, New Zealand, Japan and Hong Kong...

Marking the beginning of the 2nd quarter of the year, with increasingly pervading warmth favouring various blossoms and blooms, April comes from the Latin 'aprilis'. The academic summer vacations begin now, extending to around the second week of June in many regions...

Encompassing the zodiac signs of Aries and Taurus, the first 30-day-month of the year April embodies the Greek goddess of love, beauty and procreation 'aphrodite', bringing along Daisies and Diamonds, the birthflower and birthstone respectively...

That being said, it also is April Fool’s Day the world over, the origin of which most commonly cited is the switch between calendars, good enough for a generous hearty laugh...

Humour is always to be encouraged, for research has shown that it improves well-being, the ensuing release of endorphins being associated with happiness and social bonding. Jokes are a benign way to lighten moments amongst others, thus implying a sense of proximity...

An enjoyable time of the year, be it the ebbing winter or the warm sunshine, April ushers in renewed vigour and a fresh beginning. Autism Awareness Day on 2nd April followed by Good Friday and Easter on 18th and 20th are reminders to spread the much needed kindness and empathy the world over...

Begin the month with a smile, joy, gratitude and positivity, with nature's makeover beckoning us to explore new horizons, setting the stage for the rest of the year....

WORLD BRAIN DAY

22nd of July is observed as World Brain Day since 2014. The day was chosen during the 21st World Congress of Neurology held in Vienna on September 22, 2013 under the aegis of World Federation of Neurology, which incidentally was also formed on 22 July, in 1957... The day aims to educate people regarding brain health, to help people afflicted with neurological disorders, and to the furtherance of research and advances in therapies and prevention... INTERNATIONAL DAY OF RADIOLOGY

November 8th is observed as International Day Of Radiology as a tribute to the great German scientist Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen for his discovery of X-Rays in 1895.. The 1845 born Nobel Laureate of 1901, Röntgen majored in Physics and completed his PhD at the University of Zurich.. Discovering X-rays accidentally while using cathode rays for images of his wife’s hand, which depicted the bones and the wedding ring, Röntgen had made a giant leap for mankind in medical diagnosis.. International Day of Radiology (IDoR) was first celebrated in the year 2012 with the combined efforts of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the American College of Radiology (ACR)..
