The most worrisome of issues affecting nations globally, corruption is the brazen misuse of power to gain advantage, in almost any sphere one could think of. Crusades against it notwithstanding, the malady percolates across the board, individuals, communities, institutions, governments etc., with the common good going for a royal toss...

It goes without saying that corruption is a complex social, political and economic evil that affects all nations. It strikes at the roots of all democratic institutions. It is a major factor in the stability of any government. Needless to say, it retards all socio-economic developments...

Greed, self-Interest, lack of scruples, feeling of entitlement, short cuts to solutions are some of the driving factors. Violation of existing regulations by others, including leaders and role models, coupled with improper law enforcement and it's loopholes are fodder for corrupt practices...

Citizens should realize that corruption signifies the decay of democracy and it's institutions. Distorting electoral processes, wilful violation of the rules of law, and bureaucratic wrangles are just few examples...

Voluntary display of transparency and accountability arise from education, moral development and ethical leadership. Appreciation of honesty and exemplary retribution for the corrupt could be aspects worth considering in order to instill senses of equality and fairplay...

In one sentence, everything ultimately boils down to conscientiousness...

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF RADIOLOGY

November 8th is observed as International Day Of Radiology as a tribute to the great German scientist Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen for his discovery of X-Rays in 1895.. The 1845 born Nobel Laureate of 1901, Röntgen majored in Physics and completed his PhD at the University of Zurich.. Discovering X-rays accidentally while using cathode rays for images of his wife’s hand, which depicted the bones and the wedding ring, Röntgen had made a giant leap for mankind in medical diagnosis.. International Day of Radiology (IDoR) was first celebrated in the year 2012 with the combined efforts of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the American College of Radiology (ACR)..
