GLOBAL ETHICS DAY


18th October is observed as Global Ethics Day since 2014, thanks to the efforts of the New York based Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs, with a tri-focus on War and Peace, Global Social Justice, and Religion in Politics...

The theme for 2023 is -
“Ethics Empowered.”

Choices play important roles in our daily lives. Ethics are principles that guide our thoughts and actions in making the best choices contributory to righteousness and common welfare. It is all pervading, be it personal, community, workplace, sports, profession, business, nation and so on. The virtue of integrity ensures our adherence to ethics to make the world a better place...

We all begin to acquire morals right from home, school and society in general, the development continuing as we mature through each passing phase of life. In fact ethics on the one hand appear just so simple, while on the other hand quite a few find them superfluous to be adhered to...

Every bit of our contribution can be influential considering that we are all wonderfully connected globally. An ethical predisposition will ensure our part in the domain of social responsibility...

Having said that, there really aren't any provisions to deter the unscrupulous in society from violating norms for selfish ends. Right from the Nuremberg Code to child labour, discrimination and data privacy to name a few, ethical norms have gone for a toss on several occasions...

We do have our divine inner voice to guide us during our dilemmas. The essence is to not let that voice go unheard in the din. The practice of ethics, which can also be said to be a way of life of being empathic, reasonable, transparent and proactive in dealings, makes one trustworthy and reliable, with a fair sense of good samaritanism...

WORLD BRAIN DAY

22nd of July is observed as World Brain Day since 2014. The day was chosen during the 21st World Congress of Neurology held in Vienna on September 22, 2013 under the aegis of World Federation of Neurology, which incidentally was also formed on 22 July, in 1957... The day aims to educate people regarding brain health, to help people afflicted with neurological disorders, and to the furtherance of research and advances in therapies and prevention... INTERNATIONAL DAY OF RADIOLOGY

November 8th is observed as International Day Of Radiology as a tribute to the great German scientist Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen for his discovery of X-Rays in 1895.. The 1845 born Nobel Laureate of 1901, Röntgen majored in Physics and completed his PhD at the University of Zurich.. Discovering X-rays accidentally while using cathode rays for images of his wife’s hand, which depicted the bones and the wedding ring, Röntgen had made a giant leap for mankind in medical diagnosis.. International Day of Radiology (IDoR) was first celebrated in the year 2012 with the combined efforts of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the American College of Radiology (ACR)..
